The Federal Government Shutdown & NJ SNAP Benefits

Dear Black Horse Pike Regional School District Families and Community:

New Jersey’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides food assistance to qualified residents. First, we contacted the Department of Agriculture and asked whether the Federal Government shutdown will impact students receiving free/reduced school meals, and we were told that those families who already qualified for NJ SNAP benefits prior to October 31, 2025, will not experience a change to receiving Free/Reduced meals at school.

Secondly, due to the Federal Government shutdown, NJ SNAP has communicated a change in benefits that may impact families receiving SNAP benefits.
