SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT TO THE BOARD

ACTION ITEMS

A. PERSONNEL
1. Co-curricular Appointments
The Superintendent recommends the persons shown on SCHEDULE A be appointed to the listed co-curricular positions at the stipends shown for the 2012-2013 school year and are paid for time served in the positions. Approval is recommended.
2. Resolution for Emergency Hiring
We are now required to submit to the County Education Office each month a list of persons we have hired that have not yet received final approval of their criminal history check. The Superintendent recommends approval of the Resolution shown on SCHEDULE B that lists those persons and the positions to which they have been appointed.
3. Appointment: Per Diem Substitute Staff
The persons listed on SCHEDULE C are recommended for employment as per diem substitute staff for the 2012-2013 school year, pending completion of all pre-employment requirements. Certificates held and compensation rates are also shown. Approval is recommended.
4. Approval: Professional Development/School Business Requests
The Superintendent recommends approval of the Professional Development/School Business requests shown on SCHEDULE D. Details of these requests and costs to the district are shown on the schedule.
5. Appointments: Professional Staff
The Superintendent recommends the appointment of new hires for the school year 2012-2013.Details of the assignment and salary are shown on SCHEDULE F.
6. Resignation: Professional Staff
Kathleen Monti, a Special Education Teacher at Timber Creek High School, has
submitted a letter of resignation, to be effective August 30, 2012. The
superintendent recommends acceptance of the resignation.
Kathleen Luckiewicz, a School Nurse at Highland High School, has submitted a
letter of resignation, to be effective July 26, 2012. The superintendent
recommends acceptance of the resignation.
Theodore Munz III, a Twilight Alternative School, English Teacher at the
Twilight Alternative Program at Highland High School, has submitted a letter of
resignation to be effective August 7, 2012. The superintendent recommends
acceptance of the resignation.
Matt Beadling, a Special Education Instructional Aide at Highland High School, has submitted
a letter of resignation to be effective August 14, 2012. The superintendent recommends
acceptance of the resignation.
Jessica Moore, a Special Education Instructional Aide at Highland High School, has submitted
a letter of resignation to be effective August 14, 2012. The superintendent recommends
acceptance of the resignation.
7. Approval: Volunteer in the Timber Creek Science Department
The Superintendent requests Board approval for David Benbassat to volunteer to
teach AP Physics at Triton High School while the teacher is out on leave
and the substitute will teach Lab Physics.
8. Request: Leave of Absence
Cassie Snyder a 1:1 Aide/Job Coach at Timber Creek High School, has requested a Leave of Absence without pay beginning, September 1, 2012. Her anticipated return to work is October 29, 2012.
Carolyn Hand a Special Education Teacher at Timber Creek has requested a Leave of Absence using sick time beginning September 5, 2012. Her anticipated return to work is October 8, 2012

9. Approval: 1:1 Aide/Job Coach (TCHS)
The Superintendent requests Board approval of the individual listed on
SCHEDULE H, as a 1:1 Aide/Job Coach at Timber Creek High School, effective
September 1, 2012. Details are shown on SCHEDULE H.
10. Appointment: Lead Teacher (TCHS)
The Superintendent requests Board approval of the individual listed on SCHEDULE I,
as Lead Teacher for the English, Social Studies and World Language departments for the
2012-2013 school year at Timber Creek HighSchool.
Details are shown on SCHEDULE I.
11. Request to Serve Student Teaching
The Superintendent recommends permission be granted for the following
education student from Rowan University to serve her clinical assignment during
the 2012-2013 school year pending completion of criminal background check:

12. Appointment of Basic Skills Instructor (BSIP Co-Coordinator) 2012-2013
The Superintendent requests Board approval of the individual listed on
SCHEDULE J, as the Basic Skills Instructor (BSIP Co-Coordinator) for the
2012-2013 school year at Highland High School. Details are show on
SCHEDULE J.
13. Approval: Mentors
The Superintendent recommends approval of the Mentors for Beginning Teacher Induction Program. Details are shown on SCHEDULE K.
14. Change in Assignment Professional Staff
The Superintendent recommends the approval of a change in assignment for
Mr. Walter Sloan, a FACS teacher. Mr Sloan will be teaching 3 sections of
Creative Foods and Nutrition, in the morning at Triton and 2 sections of
Creative Foods and Nutrition at Highland in the afternoon, for the 2012-2013
school year.
The Superintendent recommends the appointment of the individuals list on the
attached schedule for the NCLB Title I Grant Funding for the 2012-2013 school
year. Details are shown on SCHEDULE N.
16. Transfers: 1:1 Aide (Voluntary)
The Superintendent recommends Board of Education approval of the
Voluntary transfer of Michelle Ivuara to Highland High School for the
2012-2013 school year due to her student at Timber Creek no longer needing
a 1:1 aide. Highland is in need of a 1:1 aide for an incoming freshman student.
17. Approval: Work schedule Change
The Superintendent recommends Board of Education approval for the work
schedule for Lisa Casares, the secretary to the Athletic Director to change
from September 1, 2012 to June 30, 2012 to August 16, 2012 to June 14, 2013.
18. Approval: Curriculum 2012-2013 School Year
The Superintendent recommends the Board of Education approval of the
2012-2013 Curriculum. Details are shown on Schedule O. View Curriculum
19. Appointment: Revised Evaluation Committee Teacher Leaders
The Superintendent requests approval of the individual shown on
SCHEDULE P to be appointed as Evaluation Committee Teacher Leader for
the 2012-2013 school year. Details of assignments and salaries are shown
on the schedule.
20. Approve Cafeteria Support Staff Salaries 2012-2013
Staff Salaries for the 2012-2013 school year. Details are shown on SCHEDULE Q.

H. MISCELLANEOUS
1. Special Education – Out of District Placements 2012-13
For the school year 2012-13, the Child Study Team has placed the classified students listed on SCHEDULE E in special education institutions believed to be best staffed and equipped to deal with the specific learning disabilities identified for these students. Acknowledgement of the Board of Education for these placements is requested.
2. Approval: District Goals 2012-2013 School Year
The Superintendent requests the Board of Education approve the
District Goals for the 2012-2013 school year. Details are shown on
SCHEDULE G.
3. ADOPTION OF TEXTBOOK REPLACEMENT PLANS
The superintendent recommends the adoption of the textbook replacement plans for the school year 2012-2013. Details are shown on SCHEDULE M.
