The Black Horse Pike Regional School District Food Service Department is dedicated to offering a variety of nutritious meals to our students. To receive federal reimbursements, school meal programs must offer meals that meet strict federal nutrition standards. These standards require schools to offer students a balance of fruits, vegetables, milk, whole grains and protein with every meal.
Our district participates in Offer versus Serve Lunch program. This is a USDA Program which allows students to choose what they eat each day.
In order for your child’s meal to count as a “school meal”, they must select at least three different food components. Also one of their choices must be a vegetable or fruit.
Our Meals meet the following guidelines:
Calories from the total fat will not exceed 30%
Calories from saturated fat will not exceed 10%
Offer a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables
Offer a variety of fat free milk choices
Offer 100% fruit juice
Breakfast is an important start to the school day. Our district participates in the National School Breakfast Program. We offer a variety of breakfast options every morning prior to first bell.
