Highland A Cappella is the real-life version of Pitch Perfect! A Cappella teams (Vocal Resolution and Melodears) are an afterschool extension of our curricular Vocal Music and Choir* classes. Auditions are in late September and practices are typically Mondays after school from October through June, in addition to occasional enrichment or weekend rehearsals as needed. They perform and compete at a wide variety of events including Highland's holiday and spring concerts, holiday caroling in the halls, ICHSA competition, Music in the Parks competition at Hershey Park, and more!

Friday, September 29 - AUDITION RESULTS POSTEDVocal Resolution is Highland’s co-ed a cappella group established in 2013. Formerly known as Chorale, this select group has transformed from a small advanced choir to a dynamic competitive a cappella group. Members of this group perform a variety of pop, jazz, and classical a cappella music at various school functions, competitions, and community events. The Melodears are Highland's newest a cappella group established in 2015. This emerging group is an all-female ensemble that performs at Highland's holiday and spring concerts, as well as several community performances throughout the year. This group does not run every year; it's functionality depends on the interest and ability of those who audition for A Cappella each year.*Highland Choir is a curricular vocal ensemble for all Highland students interested in singing. No experience or audition is required. To participate in the choir, students should sign up for the Concert Choir or Vocal Music Class. These classes explore proper singing technique and the basics of music theory necessary for reading music. Students will study and perform a variety of music from both classical and contemporary vocal repertoire.Want to be in band AND choir? No problem, you can do both! Ms. Kolody and Mr. Tumminia (Highland's band director) have a "sharing" system where concert band students can come to concert choir class 1 day out of each 4 day cycle. Another option to get the full experience of both band and choir is to sign up for the concert band class and the vocal music class, which are scheduled different periods of the school day.Questions? See Ms. Kolody in the choir room (F111) or email her firstname.lastname@example.org.
