September 2021 Athlete of the Month
-
Congratulations Katrina Mills (Tennis) on being selected as Athlete of the Month for September 2021.
"Katrina is the face of the Highland Girls Tennis Team and has done an amazing job serving in this role. She plays the most difficult position on the team at first singles, and nobody outworks her on the court. Katrina is also a two-year captain, leading both by word and by example. She has welcomed new players, introduced them to the sport and to the team, and helped to unite our team around a common goal. She serves as a team leader both on and off the court and is the epitome of 'athlete of the month'." - Coach Wonderlin
Congratulations to all our September nominees!
Kaitlyn Tocarchick - Girls Soccer
Kaitlyn is a senior this year. She has remained consistent throughout this season working hard and earning herself a starting spot on our backline. She is coming off a bad injury from last year that left her out for most of the season. Kaitlyn always works hard, is coachable, and clearly loves the sport and her team. She is one of the best girls I have gotten to coach during my time here at Highland and is a positive asset to our team.
Thomas Murray - Boys Soccer
Thomas has been the most important player on our team this year. He has done a tremendous job goalkeeping this year for the Tartans. Tommy was named co-captain in September showing incredible leadership skills and passion for his teammates.
Freddie Alford - Football
Freddie is an outstanding student and player. He is a senior captain and leads by example.
Rhianna Balmores - Volleyball
Rhianna is a leader on and off the court. She leads by example with her all-out effort on the court and off the court with her hard work and positive attitude towards her teammates.
Rozlyn Dismus - Field Hockey
Rozlyn is a natural leader both on and off the field. She's always the first to offer help and cheer on her teammates. After losing 11 seniors last year, the returning players had big shoes to fill and Roz has done just that. She has done outstanding this year, taking shot after shot she never gives up. She has 193 saves so far this season and has been the backbone of our defense. I can't wait to see her continue to grow and get better throughout her high school field hockey career.
Vanessa Marinero - Girls Cross Country
Vanessa won her first invitational of the season at the St. Dominic's Invitational with the fastest girls time (and also her personal best) of the day. Since coming to Highland she's had a great attitude and work ethic, and we're happy to have her here.
Gavin Gallo - Boys Cross Country
Gavin placed 4th at the St. Dominic's Invite and 10th at the Six Flags Invitational. He's consistently been one of the top runners on our team and in South Jersey.
Isabella Auletto - Cheerleading
Bella is ALWAYS radiating positive energy at practice and games. She is the true definition of Highland Pride. She will always be there for her teammates and do anything for her team. Come out to a game and witness Bella’s positivity.
