October 2021 Athlete of the Month

  • Congratulations Ashley Dean (Girls Soccer) on being selected as Athlete of the Month for October 2021!

    A Dean

"Ashley is a senior on our team and is also our team captain, for the second year in a row. Ashley is a great leader on and off the field. She commands our defense and is very vocal on the field which helps us win games. She is very well respected by all of her teammates and is a huge piece of our team. She is reliable, coachable and my go-to girl to help me with anything I need. She is also a hard worker and always gives 100% effort on the field. She is the definition of "leaving it all on the field". She will work so hard and give it her all, no matter what!"- Coach McEachern

Congratulations to all our October nominees!

    Tyler McDonnell - Boys Soccer

Tyler has literally scored every goal for our team this year but one. He has been an exceptional senior leader in a very difficult year. He has shown up every day, trained hard, played hard, and has been an essential building block to our program.

    Angelo Rodriguez - Football

Angelo is a hard worker who leads by example. He has rushed for over 1000 yards this season and has scored 17 touchdowns.

    Taiya Hendrickson - Volleyball

Taiya transferred to Highland over the summer and immediately became a valuable member of the volleyball team. I didn't realize that Taiya had the skills to be a setter until 5 minutes before we left for our first scrimmage but she stepped in and was our number 1 setter while learning on the job. She got better every single day and, by the end of the year, she was a standout. Her sets were on point nearly all the time and her ability to block and hit were true difference makers. My only regret is that this is her lone season as a Tartan. Due to her work ethic, there is no doubt that Taiya is going to be very successful after graduation.

    Julia Zyts - Field Hockey

Julia has been a rock for us this season. As a senior and captain, she leads the team both on and off the field. Her strong stick skills and desire to win help us stay in close games. The underclassmen look up to her and always count on her to get the job done. I'm very proud of all she's accomplished during her time at Highland and know she'll continue to grow athletically after high school.

Grace Wassell - Girls Cross Country

Grace is having a stellar season so far, leading the girls Cross Country team to an undefeated Conference Title and earning a top 10 ranking in South Jersey. One of the top athletes in the state, Grace recently earned the title of Tri-County Conference Champion, Camden County Champion, and will look to win a Sectional Title next week for the third straight year.

Anthony Imperatore - Boys Cross Country

Anthony has been the 3rd man on the conference championship team, he has helped his team to 2nd place in the county and also to win the conference championship.

    Sianna Reese - Cheerleading

Sianne always has a smile on her face and is always willing to help out when needed. She is always the first one to say I can and I will try. When I see her in the halls she is always upbeat and says hi. Sianna has grown as a cheerleader, by learning more skills and always wanting to learn more. She is always at practice and willing to try whatever is asked. Sianna also shows excellent Highland Spirit and Highland Hype!

Go Tartans!
