Joining the military is a big decision. Below you will find some information and links about the various branches of the military:

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)

In order to join a military branch, each recruit must take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery or ASVAB test. Although we currently do not offer ASVAB testing at Highland, they will work with their recruiter with practice tests and then will take it with their recruiter. Below is more information regarding the ASVAB test.

    Military Academy

Another option would be to apply to attend a military academy. A military academy is like college with a vigorous curriculum and military style training. After graduating from an academy you will become a commissioned officer in that military branch. Admission to a military academy is competitive since they are seeking only the best to represent their military branch. Not only does an application have to be submitted, but for most academies a student must pass a physical test, gain medical clearance, and receive a nomination from an elected politician. Below you will find links to the various academies

    ROTC Scholarships

For a student who still wants that college experience but wants to become a military officer the ROTC scholarship is another option. The student attends a designated college that has a ROTC program for that branch of the military they want to join. They will be part of the ROTC program and attend college classes. During the summers they may do additional military trainings and upon graduation from their college, they will be a commissioned officer in their military branch. The scholarship amount varies depending on what college the student will be attending. Below you will find links for the various ROTC Scholarships.
