WHAT IS THE BHPRSD MENTORING PROGRAM?

This program focuses on high school students, providing mentors and resources to facilitate personal and professional growth. We establish relationships with students, administration, staff, the Success Coaches, and the counseling department. Our services are catered to all students- From high- achieving students, the middle of the pack, and to those that are most at-risk students. We impact critical situations while maintaining a positive rapport with students. Notably, we have partnered with student and family groups and organizations, such as Operation Me, the African American Culture Club, Home and School Councils, and the Peer Mentoring Program, as well as supporting after-school events and extracurricular activities, including community literacy events and working with sports teams.

WHAT IS THE BHPRSD MENTORING MISSION STATEMENT?

Our mission is to provide opportunities and resources to high school students, grooming them for success through a structured program and allowing mentors to share knowledge, skills, values, experiences, and expertise.

WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM GOALS?

To educate students on the value of quality choices, the importance of goal-setting, and career exploration; to provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, and model positive behavior; to teach life skills, the value of education, and how to create a thriving future.

WHO SHOULD I CONTACT FOR THE PROGRAM?

We oversee each mentee and provide assistance, curriculum, and new program ideas, such as the Job Placement Program and The Student Leadership Group /Enrichment Mentoring. We are available for speaking engagement roles as well.  We will continue to provide information to the administration and staff to improve the school district and create a lasting impact on the students.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

As the program grows, we must nurture our mission and create a larger impact on each school. Every school will be provided more support weekly to alleviate issues that arise. Each mentor/mentee will have a safe and comfortable workspace to complete the mentoring curricula. Students will receive one journal and a folder that will include evaluations, worksheets, and notes. Additionally, monthly check-ins with mentors, counselors, and administration will be held to assess progress and changes to be made.
